Dear Dad (2020) – 29.7 cm x 21 cm – Acrylic paints on white paper
A tribute to Kenneth Stanley Light (1939-2020), my father who passed away on 03-04-2020. The source photo was taken around 15 years prior, he was healthy, happy and still working in his taxi company, Arrow Taxis. The photo was from a Royal British Legion parade, where my father and his brother Alec, would attend each year to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers.
His cheeky smile is captured well, with just a simple outline, most people didn’t realise that he had dentures from the age of 25, and was still wearing them 40 years later, looking natural as ever.
