BIOLOGICAL FATHER

Biological Father (2020) – 29.7 cm x 21 cm – Alcohol markers on white paper

I still do not know the full story of why my biological parents decided to gave up my care to my grandparents. They were both 19 when I was born, prematurely, weighing under 3lbs. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for them.

Admittedly, I have held resentments towards my biological father, but this drawing was my way of forgiving him, realising that he had his own reasons and story around what happened. The past is in the past and I thank him that I am alive and well today. 🙏

To stare in the eyes of his photo for this piece was cathartic. It is a photo of my dad in Greece with my step mum, Heather. I know they both find peace when they are there and I wish them all the peace in the world.
